The Crags Trail - Saturday, September 26, 9:00am
Please join us for this colorful Fall hike on this last Saturday of September, 2020. The hike is an out-and-back, 5.1 mile round trip rated as "moderate" with an elevation gain of 800 feet. We will hike thru groves of aspen trees flanked by impressive rock formations in the shadow of Pikes Peak.
Directions:
- Take Hwy 24 west through Woodland Park to Divide
- Turn left at Hwy 67 and head south for about 4 miles
- Turn left on CR-62 and head about 3 miles to the new trailhead
parking lot on right hand side
Additional parking is available about a half mile back down the road at the lower trailhead. With a couple of breaks to enjoy the scenery, the trek should take about three hours. Being later in the season, the morning will be brisk so bring layers of clothing. Don't forget your water and snacks. Dogs on leashes will be allowed. Masks are highly recommended as there are narrow sections and Social Distancing may be difficult at times.
In recent years, the location for our fall colors has been the Dome Rock Trail. However, that area is within a State Wilderness Area that now requires a hunting or fishing license for access. The Crags Trail is in the same general area on the opposite side of Hwy 67.
