Catamount Reservoir Hike And Fish

Join us for what will be a really fun day of hiking and fishing (optional). This is the third hike of the season with the destination being the South Catamount Reservoir. The Catamount Trail hiking portion will start in Green Mountain Falls and will be 4.9 miles in length (RT, out and back). The elevation gain is 1506 ft and the hike is rated moderate in difficulty.
Directions:
Travel west on US 24 (Cimarron) approx 14 MI from I-25. Turn left at the second exit for Green Mountain Falls/Chipita Park. Continue for 0.6 miles. As Green Mountain Falls Avenue bends left, it becomes Ute Pass Avenue. At Hondo Avenue intersection, ample parking is available on the left. We will walk up Hondo Avenue to the trailhead at address 11195 Hondo Avenue. Bring plenty of beverages, snacks and fishing gear, of course. Dogs on leashes are welcome to join us. The uphill portion of the trail is narrow with switchback, so masks are highly recommended. Please observe "social distancing" guidelines. Hike Lead is Geoff Brown. Fishing Guru is Bruce Mackenzie-Low.
